Five for Friday

I would like to shout out to my daughter today.  It's her birthday.  Allison is on the left and I'm on the right.

Happy birthday Allie!

Today is one of my favorite days to write.  It is Five for Friday.  I'm linking up with Doodlebugs Teaching today.  I hope you find all my Friday Finds Fabulous!

We are finished with our Fall Writing Benchmarks in fourth grade.  Scoring the compositions was so much easier this year with this rubric.  The writing prompt was narrative so it was scored against the narrative rubric seen below.  The best part of this rubric is that the students are equally involved in their score as the student.  The "S" means the student is rating their paper and the "T" is what the teacher feels is the fair score.

The student feels he is a 9 and the teacher feels it is more of an 8.  An 8=a grade of a 76.

Here is his composition- "Write about a time you discovered that you were good at something."
In Texas, our students take the STAAR test.  The fourth graders must write a narrative and an expository composition.  This packet has everything you need to score higher in writing on the STAAR test.  It is designed to teach students the differences in papers from a rating of a 1 to a score rating of a 4 in both narrative and expository.

I just love this Rhyme Buddy set.  Everything you need to focus on rhyming in small group, whole group or one-on-one.  This teaches students how to rhyme using the "Buddy" concept.  A rhyme has a buddy that sounds like him.  They are BFF's!  I think that is pretty cute.

Yummy...I can't wait to make these this weekend.

I'm running a 5K this Saturday.  So excited to be running with my teachers.  It will be such a blast.  I will be sharing pictures with all of you after the race.

My plans after the color run...relax and watch The Heat!  I've seen it already but it is worth watching again.

Can't wait to hear your plans for the weekend!
